and here we go
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Jen, her parents, and I went to Arkansas to see her Aunt and Uncle for Thanksgiving. Driving to Arkansas is seriously the longest drive ever. It’s about a 13 hour drive, but it felt like it would never end. Her dad helped with the driving, but even just riding is long. We left Wednesday for Arkansas and left Friday night at 10 to return home. Mike and I drove through the night and got back in Charlotte around 12:30pm. The cheapest gas we saw was 1.53 and that was in Tennessee around mile marker 187 on I-40, just incase your curious.
Today is my last day at the house until Christmas. I leave tomorrow morning at 4am for Fort Bragg. I really can’t believe how quickly time goes. I found out in July I was being deployed in December and hello December. So today will be spent packing the rest of my gear and spending time with the wife. So from today on I will be centering this blog around my deployment. Let me get this out of the way. Even though we have had a change in Office this may or may not affect me. The military is a big moving machine and even if he does want to pull out of Iraq it will take time to move the military. So I will still be leaving and I do not suspect my deployment shortening.
So until next time folks.
COPS but with chickens
I love the show COPS especially when someone gets tazed, but this is just amazing.
Watch the top chicken at the 19 sec mark “move it along buddy nothing more to see here”.
counting the days
I just got done talking with my pastor and it’s hard to believe that this Sunday will be my last Sunday service at church before I head out. This whole thing has been a roller coaster of emotions for me. So many different thoughts and emotions that I haven’t really been able to process everything. Next week Jen, her parents, and I head to Arkansas for Thanksgiving and drive straight back here on November 30th. Then December 1st to head out to Fort Bragg until Christmas and at that time I’ll come home for about a week and then head out to Camp Shelby.
Friday I went to see the new James Bond flick with Jen and some friends. I thought it was a pretty good movie. I agree it was not as great as Casino Royal story wise, but it was an action packed movie. The story was not as clear as the last movie, you had to pick it up as you went. Granted the villain was named Mr. Green, not very scary, and he was an environmental villain, still not very scary. Minor details I say, overall a decent movie.
Jen gave me something so amazing that I can only say fabutastic (I promise you this is a word…ok you caught me Jen and I combined fabulous and fantastic into one word (dorks I know)). She made me a scrap book to take along with me. She had all sorts of people send in letters and pictures. She had friends from my old job, my current boss, her family, and most of my family all write something. Not just the scrapbook, but overall people have really stepped up beyond what I imagined to help Jen and I during this time. I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart.
Saturday was my farewell cookout. We had a huge turnout, had to be over 50. A bunch of people from our church and some friends, and plus my boss came out with his family. Which by the way he brought me favorite soda/pop/soft drink, depending where you are in the US, Guarana. I found out about Guarana on the mission trip to Brazil a few years ago. He went to Brazil last month for a work trip and I asked him to pick med up a few if he could.
Other then that not much going on. Work has been pretty slow…really slow, I’ve been slowly handing stuff over to the new guy. So far he’s been kind of shaky, but he is only here temporary…hopefully he works out while I’m gone.
Till next time f0lks.
nothing new
Nothing really earth shattering. I’m back at work and catching up. The End
Back home (Florida) they had just had the Stuart Airshow and my brother had the privilege of playing taps during the Missing Man Formation. Very Awesome.
Heading home
Class is finally over and tomorrow morning I head home. On a side note I did not smother her.
what I do in class
I find myself bored in class quite a bit. I thought I would share with you some of my artwork. Let me say this that I do not have a scanner in my hotel room so I took a picture of it with my digital camera.
Do not mind the corss out one eye guy he was a messup.
Zombies are real and dangerous.
Why a remote tribe has a computer with internet access is beyond me. But the main question I have is who is behind this Rick Roll. By the way you were just rick roll’d by this comic.
Get ready for a ride
It’s a little after 10pm and we still have a few hours before the new President is announced and it’s not looking for McCain (Obama 207 to McCain 95). I would have rathered seen Mike Huckabee instead of McCain, but I guess America saw something in McCain. Anyway, I do not want to go off on a wild politic tangent because I’m sure we’ve all have seen enough to last us another 4 years. I just hope everyone got out and voted yesterday because it is important.
School is going well I have the third highest average in class and I have one more test left. I’m learning a lot about being petroleum Supply Specialist, testing the fuel, gauging it, learning about flashpoints, working with pumps, setting up different types of fueling points and that only a small amount. One of the vehicles I would be working with is a HEMMT and this is very versatile vehicle for the Army because it can be used in many different applications and not just for fuel. This picture shows the HEMMT as fuel tanker, but remove the fuel tank portion and it can be transformed into say a concrete mixer.
So just a few more days left and I’ll be heading home. That’s if I do not smother one of the female soldiers here. She’s a very loud female and is very “hey look at me”. Her voice just travels and it’s like nails on a chalkboard, and it doesn’t help that she spells out popular texting phrases. By the way I’ll be getting deployed with her. Perhaps I’ll send her on a quest to find headlight fluid. Yes she’ll fall for this and I know this because today she asked what channel the election results would be on.
December 1st is fast approaching and I got my first taste of helplessness last week. Jen had a bit of an accident huge accident. Jen tripped in a hole and sprained both of her ankles and possibly tore the ligaments in one of them. I get the phone call of her in tears and I could not be there for her to comfort her. Fortunately her mom was there to get her to the ER and they have been helping her around the house, but I just wish I could be there for her.
I leave you with a picture of a Camel Spider:
