ABC Nightline: Is America Addicted to Porn?
I bet you never thought you would see the day when the word Porn and the name Ron Jeremy would be mentioned on my blog. For those who have never heard of XXXchurch this posted directly from their site:
XXXchurch is here to make you think, react, and to decide where you stand on the issues of porn. We’re not here to sling mud, but to shove the envelope and try and do some good.
Sometime in Feburary Donny Pauling and Craig Gross (From XXXChurch) debated porn stars Ron Jeremy and Monique Alexander with ABC Nightline’s Martin Bashir moderating at Yale University. By the way, I never knew Yale had a sex week. I do not know if this ever aired on TV, but I wish I would have known. Anyway, I do not know where everyone who comes by this blog stand is on porn, but I recommend taking time to watch. I for one fully support the ministry of XXXchurch and everything they do. I have posted a link to their web-site (not Ron Jeremy’s site, but XXXChurch) above to check out.
So we are in an age of technology where we can blow up falling satellites from the sky, heck we can even go to space. For some reason though ABC, a highly rated network by the way, is still stuck in 1998. I will not be able to embed the videos on the page and I will have to post the link to the videos below. Remember the days of clicking on links?
11 Days & Counting
So I really have been procrastinating on updating my blog. Most of the time I would think about it and that was about as far as I got.
There are 11 days left for class and I cannot wait. Every other week I’ve had two papers due and that is on top of my normal class work. For my Christian History class I had to write a paper on The founding of the Canon and the second Paper was on the Papacy. In my Theology class I had to write a position paper on The Destination of the Unreached and The Nature of Hell and the second paper was on Calvinism versus Arminian.
Friday and Saturday I had the 30 Hour Famine with the youth group in our church. So the 30 Hour Famine is where you basically fast for 30 hours from food and raise money for the hungry throughout the world. It’s a nation wide event done by churches and is done through World Vision. Friday morning begins the fast, we then go to either school or work, and then met up at church around 6 to hang out, focusing on God’s word and why we’re doing this and of course had fun. We had the option of sleeping in tents or a box to experience what it is like. As for myself I slept under the stars with just a sleeping bag. Anyways I put together a video of highlights from the famine and posted it below.
Afterwards on Saturday afternoon Jen and I went to the Lazy5ranch, which is like Lion County Safari, but better. The reason why it was better was because you could feed the animals as you drive through. Of course there were no dangerous animals, however the Emu’s were very demanding when it came to food. At one point two Emu’s were about in the vehicle trying to get to the food Jen had.
The past couple Sunday’s I’ve been playing paintball after church with my father in-law and yesterday was the first Sunday Jen was able to go. There’s a paintball field about 15 minutes from Church (Boss Paintball Field, Locust). So it’s real easy to shoot right on over there afterwards and really cheap on Sundays. I am so fortunate to have a wife who will get outside and get dirty with me crawling though dirt and mud, but then also still wanting to be a girl. I really have been blessed with a great wife. The past couple weeks I had some stuff going and just seeing her there for me was great. I sometimes forget and take things like that for me to remember.
So last night was the last night of Passover and we had Jen’s parents over for dinner. This was my first ever Passover Seder that I conducted. This is something that Jen and I really want to do yearly and we may even do it for our church next year or at least for our home group.
Till next folks…
I Need One of These
Jen, Mike (Father in-law), and I have really gotten into paintball. We went over to Mikes house last night to do some shooting. Turns out Mike has set up a little mock shooting range in his back yard. I said last night that I bet in a month Mike will have his backyard cleared and pop up targets and the whole shebang setup.
I came across this today and well it’s just awesome. Some college kid built a half-size WWII Panzer tank for paintball.
Drill Weekend and Other Shenanigans
This weekend was my National Guard weekend. I guess I got a little accomplished there, but not really alot. Not sure if that even makes any sense, I guess the easiest way to explain it, is that I didn’t do as much sitting around as last month. Saturday, I got new uniforms so it felt more official being at drill in uniform and that was it. Sunday, I took the yearly physical fitness test and I passed. I also started working on putting together my packet for promotion to E-5/Sergeant and signed up WLC (Warrior Leadership Course). I do not need this to have my E-5, but it looks good for when my packet goes in front of the bored board (stupid Homophones). So WLC is a two week course that gets soldiers prepared to becoming Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs). The class is in South Carolina, I’m guessing Fort Jackson, and it will not be until late January 2008. Believe it or not that was the earliest opening available. Well they had one December, but it would be running really close to Christmas and that’s always busy time of the year for everyone. There was another one that began Jan. 2nd, but my boss wouldn’t let me go to that one because it was birthday, so January 23rd is the day as of now.
Found out last night that Skybus declared bankruptcy, which by the way Jen and I were scheduled to fly on in July. In the e-mail I received I was told I wouldn’t be getting a refund and would need to contact my credit card company. USAA did get us a refund which was cool, but now I am stuck trying to figure out how Jen and I are going to be getting to Ohio. Thanks to rising gas prices any means of travel is going to be ridiculous. I’m wondering how much higher gas is going get until I need to harvest my kidneys.
So I got pictures of the house finally, but now I need to take new ones because Jen has since decorated. So of course she wants the new ones posted.
Until next time folks.
31 Days Until Summer
I think I told some of you that I suppose to be going up to New York in a couple weeks. Well as of now I do not think that is going to happen until later because of hold ups on the clients end. I keep meaning to add this story to my post and I keep forgetting. I work in a community style office building. There are several businesses on the floor where I work and we share the secretary and the kitchen area and such. There is one particular lady who takes smoke breaks throughout the day (outside of course). I’m not exactly sure what she smokes, but whatever it is it has flavoring. I know this because anytime I get in the elevator after she has been it, it smells like cloves…ham cloves. Anytime I smell where she has been I think of ham and honestly she kinda reminds me of a ham and that maybe because she smells like cloves.
So Chip got home safely, he was the one in Afghanistan with the Navy. He said in his e-mail that he has been working on his honey do list that she has been saving for 15 months. This week I have my drill weekend for the Guard. I’m looking forward to it and then again I am not. The only reason I am not is because I have two papers due this week. A 2-4 page paper on the destiny of the unevangelize and the nature of hell and the second paper is 5 page paper on the Canonization of the Bible, how and the councils. Both of them are due Monday, but Saturday and Sunday I will not be able to work on them and I have my regular class work….come on summer. Besides the class work, class is going well. Christianity history is definitely interesting and my theology class is as well. I’m really looking forward to summer for the time off from school. School has really been taking up a lot of time from things I would like to do and miss doing. One such thing is mtn. bike riding. I was able to get out and ride Friday but that is only like my 3rd or 4th time riding since the new year.
Some good news, at least I hope so, over the weekend Jen and I filled out the paper work to adopt a puppy. We were originally looking into getting a german shepard mixed with a pit, but because of the restricted dog breed policy we could not and now we are looking into getting a lab and hound mix. We are just waiting on the homeowner to tell us what the pet deposit would be, if any. This is a big thing for the Evans family because for some time now I have been lobbying for a dog and it’s officially happening. Once and if we get the dog I will let you all know.Until next time folks.
