So we made it back from Orlando without any problems.  We made it back home a little after four, but the trip back seemed so much longer going home then when we drove down there.

Saturday we were able to get into Sea World and do some things that not everyone is able to do.  We were able to feed and pet some dolphins, but the coolest thing was Jen’s friend Joe was able to get us behind the scenes in the penguin area.  We were able to pet some penguins and take some pictures with them.  The penguin exhibit is actually behind a glass enclosure and we were able to go back there.  So the people looking in could see us back there…awesome.  So if you saw a guy with a black hat in the penguin exhibit that was me.  Not so awesome was the fact that I was still a bit wet from the previous water excursion I went on. My mom and I went on a ride that got us soaking wet.  She got new clothes, but I did not so my shorts froze.  It was about 30 degrees in the penguin room…just a tad bit cold.  But it was so worth it.

Joe was telling us that sometimes they get to take home penguin chicks for a couple weeks at a time to raise them.  Sometimes the chicks get bad parents drug/alcohol abuse, beatings, the typical stuff DCF is called in for.  Seriously though sometimes the parents are just bad or there may be too much going on.  So the employees get to take them home and raise them.  Wendall, the rock hopper penguin (he is the smaller one), is actually one Joe was able to take home and the penguin knows his voice. All cool stuff.

Question..

It is a Friday night and I am sitting in the downstairs lobby of the Hampton Inn can life get any better. So we are in Orlando right now or at least until Sunday morning. What are we doing in Orlando you ask. Jen got her PE license today..eh, well actually she took her exam today. However I am being very confident for her, because she does not want to be over confident. So somebody needs to do it. So it was a pretty long day for her exam started at 7:15 this morning and she got done about 6 I guess and we will find out the results in December sometime.

My mom came up today for the weekend to visit with us since we could not get down there to see her. We would have loved to go down home, but after an already long drive I could not bear find the energy to drive another 2 hours back home. It’s really good to see her I just wish I was able to see everyone else. I do not know when we will be able to get down to see the rest of the family, but I hope one day soon. Stupid money and everything being expensive. I wish I could put money on “The List”.

So tomorrow we’ll be going to Sea World because military and family can get in for free. It’s funny because Sea World was never in the plans. Here’s how it went down Wednesday night at dinner Jen and I ran into one of her old friends from New York who happens to have a job at Sea World. He said he would try to round up some extra tickets for us and get us in the back to pet the penguins. He was not able to get us the tickets, but I remembered the military thing so it works out. He said he would still get us in the back with the penguins though. One word…awesome.

So I have been in Orlando a whole two and a half days I have come to the conclusion that one, I do not miss Florida and two Orlando people are jerks. So Orlando and Jacksonville are both on “the list”. Actually Jacksonville has always been on “the list”, long story, but now Jacksonville has company. By the way I got lost in a parking lot twice today. Well not really lost it was really more stuck then anything. Parking lots here are limited on exits..must have been a supply shortage.

So yesterday marked a very important day. ::Drum roll please:: the preview for 24 season 7 came out. I cannot wait for this season, it looks to be probably the best yet. Do not get me wrong last season was good, but it could have been better. Tony is back with a huge twist, CTU is gone, and, Jack is well doing what he does best, killing terrorists. So it’s only October and the new season starts in January. By my math If you start watching Monday I think you can get through all of the seasons before the new one starts. Can’t wait to hear what you think. Till next time.

so you think you can

Lastnight we went to see So You Think You Can Dance live show at the Bobcat Arena. Yes I said we, anyways we had a very good time lastnight. Watching it on TV is one thing, but seeing it live is a totally different experience. It is amazing what these people can do with there bodies.

Tonight is a very exciting night for me. Transformers the movie came out Tuesday so we’re having some people over to watch it with us. We’re going to BBQ some chicken and just have a good time. BBQ chicken, friends, and Transformers the movie…can it get any better.

I just finished out my Theology 201 class with a 95 and I registered for my Spring 08 classes the first 8 weeks is Theology 202 and Youth Ministry 201 and the second 8 weeks is Theology 250 and Church History 301.

Last week Quentin, the Youth Pastor, gave me permission to do a couple months worth survey lessons of the Old Testament major characters and events. I brought the idea up because the youth group is strongly lacking in Old Testament knowledge and I suggested the idea of doing a survey of it. During lessons they are asking questions of why the Jews did this, why did God do that, who is that. Maybe it’s because they’ve gotten so much preached from the New Testament by old the youth pastor who knows, but I hope the helps them understand a bit more.

I made another video lastnight. I’ve noticed in the last two videos I’ve made they come out blocky and a lower quality then what I uploaded them at. I am hoping to find another site to host them so they will not be so blocky.

Jen thought this would be a good Christmas gift for me…

Just for laughs

So I was going through the grocery store today and saw some bananas on sale for -6x>-18 per pound. Then I thought I am so happy I’m taking that math class because we just went over on how to solve this. I was thinking when in the world would I ever use this? Almost 25 years old and I have never come across this type of problem and do not think I ever will. But if I did I would not even bother to solve it because it’s to much of hassle. I got a headache just listening to the lecture on how to solve it. So I of course did what any college student does when they feel defeated….no I did not re-watch the video I gave up.

So fall is officially here I guess you can say. It’s a real nice change in weather. I realized two things one being that the fall here is like the winter in Florida and two that I have no jackets. I’ve been putting it off as long as possible so we went this weekend and bought me a decent jacket.

Sneaky Jen did something that really surprised me. I mentioned in a prior post about a helmet cam well Jen surprised me with one. I got a package at the office last Tuesday and figured it was for my boss. Saw the company name and never thought of checking who it was addressed to. Got a visit from the office secretary Friday asking if I got the package. Oops. So needless to say I was excited…kinda like this kid. That Nintendo 64 kid sure does bring a smile : D to my face every time I watch him. Back to the camera. So I was breaking in the new camera this weekend. A buddy I ride with, by the way he knew I was getting this and did not say anything to me, said this about the camera “It’s kinda like your black box for when everything goes wrong”.

The camera itself is about the size of my hand (length wise) and does not weigh much at all. I just attach it to my helmet or my handle bars and I’m good to go.  My first video is below and there will be more to come.

The American Way

We are winding down till our Orlando trip so Jen can take her engineering exam and she is really hitting the books. Lately it’s been pretty busy: finished a class and starting another one next week in addition to my math class, work is getting busy, Heroes (another show we’ve gotten sucked into), mountain biking, and of course Halo 3.

The other day I was talking with Jen about the amount it’s costing us for me to go to school. I made the comment in passing, “if we don’t pay my school loan back will the government take back my diploma”. She said “no, but they will sue you”. Then it dawned on me that the American way is to sue, sue no matter the cost.

If someone seriously cannot make the payments for whatever legit reason, why is it ok for companies to sue for everything some working class family has? Jen shared a story with me that her boss shared with her. An engineer made a bad design and his company was sued. Which is understand but what is not understand is that because they weren’t satisfied with what they got from his company they decide to go after him personally, took his children’s college fund, savings, vehicles, house, and who knows what else. Jen said this was a big company suing and they did not need the money they took from him. So when is enough enough? They guy ended up either killing himself or having a heart attack Jen said. Which made me start thinking about the conversation I had with good ol Bank of America a couple weeks back asking about the foreclosure process, which is they would sell the house and whatever they do not get from the sell they’ll bleed me dry. Actually, she didn’t say that, but she did say that they could come after us. Eh…news flash lady if I couldn’t make my mortgage payment what makes you think you’ll get the rest of the money from me…magic money tree

My sister and I are at odds and what really ticks me off about the whole thing is that she feel for some reason she feel entitled to things. Where in world was I when that lecture was going on in school…oh at the “what we are not entitled to in life” lecture. Last time I checked the only thing we’re entitled to is death. On top of that, she justifies it by saying because she has a single income not double income it’s ok. Because I have a double income my life is like, well, the rich and the famous. I will say this she is absolutely brilliant when it comes to book smarts, but common sense is a whole another story.

Funny story. Apparently one our cats finds pleasure in opening my sock and undergarments drawer and pulling everything out of it and onto the floor.

  • Well apparently we have a cat that is unhappy with his body and he is bulimic cat. The cat throws up after he eats. That’s not the gross part though…another cat then eats it. All kidding aside bulimia is bad and if you are bulimic please seek help.
  • Jen is sick and I’m getting sick. Which stinks because when i get sick it hangs around for like three weeks. Almost like the girl you broke up with but keeps calling.
  • Just about done with my Theology class and it looks I may finish strong. One day I’ll get those papers up for you to read.
  • Math class is well, eh…it’s going. Oh, my math teachers looks like a guy, but she’s not a guy. I was really confused until she mentioned her name on the video.
  • This is some of the craziest mountain biking stuff I have seen. You can sleep in peace knowing that I don’t anything as crazy as this when I ride. So after watching this video I’ve decided I wanna get a helmet cam for when I ride. Jen’s worried I’ll break it and we’ll be out money, but I think I’ll be a ok.
  • I’m not sure why I did everything in bullets…it just seemed like the right thing to do.
